Hockey at The Well

Let me start by saying, I don’t know shit about hockey. But I like any sporting event live and “The Well” (Bon Secour Wellness Center) is just a few blocks from my home.  I am also a huge fan of all things I can walk to.  So, we decided to go to a Swamp Rabbit game, and OMG what fun!  You don’t really have to know much to have a good time.

It is a high energy, fast-paced game and has a bit of a live rock concert vibe to it.  They play rock music before the game and the announcer introduces the players at the beginning of each game as if they are rock stars.  When the referees come onto the ice after each intermission, the lights are dimmed, and they skate out of the team tunnel to loud music and strobe lights.  We are hooked and go to a good number of games each season.  I have picked up on the game and am starting to know some of the players.  The tickets are not too expensive, and they run deals throughout the season.

The Well is a great and comfortable arena for any event.  The food and drink vendors are plentiful and good.  There is the typical pizza, popcorn, nachos, and pretzels, but there are some unique vendors too. We’ve discovered a hot dog vendor that has hot dogs piled high with chili, cheese, onions, and corn chips or BBQ pork, slaw, and jalapenos. Smash burgers and fries at a different vendor are always popular. At the pizza vendor, they also have a dish called the Swamp Rabbit chips which is kettle potato chips covered in cheese sauce, pimento cheese, BBQ pork, and jalapenos. Also, the staff at the food and beverage locations are always cheerful and efficient and keep the lines moving so no one has to wait too long.

The Swamp Rabbits are definitely Fancy Like Greenville, and I highly recommend checking them out.

Until next time, stay Fancy.
