Let me tell you that I am a BBQ connoisseur and I have been cooking BBQ for fun and for a living my whole life. So, I think I have a good palette for good, great, and over the top awesome BBQ. So, when I tell you that Lewis BBQ (www.lewisbarbeque.com) is right up there as some of the best I have ever had, you can believe me. I thought I had perfected ribs and brisket myself, but Lewis BBQ wins. I like theirs better than my own which is quite a statement for me to make.
The restaurant is big; it is clean; and the customer line moves quickly. There is seating in the restaurant, a bar area, and covered outside seating. We have had the brisket, ribs, slaw, collards, and corn pudding. All great! They use prime beef for the brisket, and it is the best I have ever had. The ribs are meaty and tender with a great glaze on them. The slaw is vinegar based with no mayonnaise. The collards were good, but I could teach them a little thing about these as they are another of my specialties. All in all, a wonderful experience.
The only thing I would say is they use great high-end products and that comes at a cost. As well as being some of the best BBQ I have ever had, it was definitely the most expensive. I do have to say it was worth it. If the food and service are top notch, price does not really bother me. It is something to keep in mind before you go. Try not to judge based on price but quality! I loved it and will be going back soon and trying something else on the menu.
They do daily specials as well and I think that the Sunday chicken fried steak special has my name on it! I will let you know how that is soon.
Until then stay fancy…
